As TC Broadnax assumes his new role as the City Manager of Austin, he has highlighted his initial priorities, which include the hiring of a permanent police chief and finalizing a new contract agreement with the Austin Police Association. Broadnax emphasized the importance of addressing key issues such as emergency preparedness, affordable housing, and homelessness in the city.

Broadnax expressed his commitment to tackling these challenges through collaborative, transparent, inclusive, and equitable approaches, stating, "Together, we will address these and other challenges with collaborative, transparent, inclusive, and equitable approaches."

Having previously served as the city manager of Dallas for seven years, Broadnax brings a wealth of experience to his new position overseeing Austin's more than 16,000 city employees and managing the city's $5.5 billion budget. Among his responsibilities will be drafting the annual budget and presenting it for approval to the Mayor and City Council.

Additionally, he is set to receive an honorary Doctor of Public Service degree from Washburn University in May 2024.
